This is not a compact or dwar form so they will get much larger than they are now. And they naturally tend to be somewhat irregularly shaped, long branched shrubs as well.

Thank you, Garden Gal. I’m ok with them getting much taller and wider (I plan to increase the bed size in the future). But anticipated they’d be less irregular in shape. Oh well, I will move them to another bed that’s more “free form” looking.

They're just getting started, will appear more dense and uniform when older - something that many kinds of shrubs do.

Thank you, Embothrium and Ken. I will leave it be and see how it does for a couple of years. Ken, the link you sent showed a few photos of more mature shrubs filled out to a shape reminiscent of how my shrubs looked when I first bought mine last year.

I love the variegated leaves and having the hummingbirds visit the flowers while I enjoy a coffee patio-side. Also, having the shrubs bloom in the Spring, with a smaller flush of blooms in late Summer is nice. I will wait and see how they turn out!

One specimen would be sufficient for that space imo, especially since you also have a Hydrangea in there too. I’d move one of them elsewhere or enlarge the bed.

Floral , I agree. I am planning on moving the hosta and the hydrangea to another bed in the Fall (they are here temporarily until I flesh out their permanent home).

Just as a further thought, Weigela grows extremely easily from cuttings, so if you want more that’s a cheap way to get some.
