Go ahead and move them. They are tough as nails:)

If you dont love them get rid of them. They are to be enjoyed not stress over. It's your yard, move them and if they don't make it not a big loss on your part.

Agree - they will transplant without blinking!! But be aware that a firmly established colony of daylilies can be a chore to move.....they develop a dense and heavy root system.

I once had a somewhat similar situation in a previous garden.......a smallish sloped area in my front garden that I planted solely with a collection of daylilies. After a few years, their appearance by late summer was something I could no longer tolerate in my front yard. Limp, floppy foliage, lots of yellow or brown leaves, old flower stalks sticking up. They just didn't look good enough long enough to justify such a prominent placement!

So I dug them all up, gave a bunch away and replanted others in among other perennials and shrubs where their untidy late season apperance was not so obvious or jarring.

A solution to resolve the dying back leaf situation if you want to enjoy the flowers.

Move them to one area [need full sun]. When they are done blooming, cut or mow them down. They will grow back and no messy dead leaves. If they are the tall orange ones often called ditch lilies, the only way to totally get rid of them from a bed is to dig absolutely every last root up. However, if you remove them to plant grass, keeping it mowed will eventually cause them to die away. The tall orange ones also spread underground as well, so putting them in with other flowers won't work, they will take over. However, the modern cultivars will stay in place and can be planted with other flowers.
