I got to keep my recently purchased, seed-grown Florida-raised, 8 year old, Adenium socotranum alive and well over the winter. I need some answers, please.

Bought two, CFL 6500K high output, 600 W (standard base) light bulbs. I'm going to place two, white rectangular, reflectors, (mounted vertically-sideways), on both sides of the my 20" tall Adenium socotranum. I'll place the plant between both high-output CFL bulbs/reflectors, so that the whole plant, trunk + caudex + top leaves, will get washed with equal lighting, + heat mat under pot to keep the roots/growing medium warm. The bulbs are easily about 8" long, and emit very, very, bright light. I figure the two bulbs on each side of the Adenium hopefully, will give enough light energy to keep the plant from going dormant throughout the dark, winter months that are coming. I plan on keeping the lights on for about 15 hours, growing medium temps in the low 70s*F, a small fan blowing on the plant will keep the air moving.

What am I missing? Does this set up sound OK? Is this a plan that will work? I spent a small fortune on the A. socotranum and I don't want it to stress, fail, and eventually die. I want it to survive and thrive in NYC. NYC might be a lot of things....but it surely ain't the Socotran desert. So...will my fake desert work??? I also want to prevent the caudex/stem/branches from going limp and soft, so I will also occasionally water-mist the plant, and surface of growing medium just to keep it moist and to keep the plant hydrated. I read that the whole surface of Adenium plants are photosynthetic and will synthesize food even when leaves drop off. My goal is to allow the plant to keep thriving until I can get it back in the natural sunlight, and heat, with minimal setback.

I have never tried any of this (artificial lighting) before. My other few Adenium plants go dormant each winter, (November-thru May) and don't resprout leaves until early June. Some die, or are so stressed that it takes a good month before they start growing, if at all. By the end of Sept. my growing season is over and plants start to lose leaves and go quiescent/dormant. They're resting more than they're growing. Not good.

I wish I had a desert greenhouse! Maybe in my next life.
