Painted paneling

I removed our old 1970’s paneling on a lower wall in our family room. There are two small walls that I don’t want to remove since it would require a lot of work to remove trim and cabinet etc., and it’s floor to ceiling. I am thinking of painting it. Has any of you, done that? Do you like the looks of it?

(Please excuse the mess in these photos. I’ve removed the bottom paneling in the other part of the room)

    We painted all the paneled walls in our family room. What a difference...was so dark and now it is light and airy. We used a primer on the paneling and then painted it white. A few years later we painted it a soft yellow. NEVER regretted it. I think if you paint the paneling you have left, the same color as the wall, you will never notice that it is paneling.
