Taller mirror, mount the light on top of the vanity. You can still change to sconces, it's not a difficult electrical task. And/or mount the sconces on the mirror as well, lots of reflectivity. What style mirror were you looking for? Farmhouse? Transitional?

Thanks! I’m open on style. More transitional probably based on the other parts of the basement. Just so hard to find ones that would be wider, too (beyond 36”). Any suggestions on size for width?

If I can’t find.. would I do the glass bevel as 42 or 48 tall and only 36 wide?

I had the same dilemma with my remodel. My master vanity area looked like something from an 80s motel.

The builders grade cabinet was raised and a beautiful custom carrera marbel counter was added; the

mercury glass knobs are from Antrhopology. I believe the mirror is from Wayfair - great price, beautiful showy piece. On the left between the studs, I found a wood frame niche with glass shelves that I use to display my various hair, face products, makeup brushes, etc.

I would tape out a vertical template to get a sense of what looks best. I feel the horizontal mirror is predictable, but a lot of people do it and it looks good - for my space there's no question the vertical mirrow was the way to go. Hope this is helful.
