Help with fireplace decor

Redid my two sided fireplace. Before and after pics below. The other side houses a tv but I’m unsure of how to decorate this side and the blank wall to the left. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I like how you completed the wall where the original was a partial wall. However, on my monitor, the fireplace's dark gray paint color seems to fight the warm neutrals in your furniture, flooring, and walls.

I don't see the before but I don't think you "need" to decorate it. Maybe if/when you find some art work you love, you can place on the wall.

I would hang a single matted-and-framed print on the smooth-surfaced wall, and allow the shiplap to be the decor above the fireplace.

To Gcubed and IdaClaire: thanks. I just never thought of letting the ship lap be the decor! I have a “tribute” piece to my late husband. Would this work or too busy/wrong color (fireplace granite is absolute black)? Or could I force to make it work if I sprayed the frame and/or changed the matting?

I suspect that the tribute piece would work on the left wall, but I'd leave the shiplap without anything further.

To Mjlb: thanks. Although the color is BM HC-107 Gettysburg Grey, it’s actually more of a very deep green that compliments other green in my house (like my kitchen below)

I would go with wall art. Use photos in different spot.

A couple of the pros on this site seem to think that personal photos should not be displayed in a living room or what they otherwise call "public" space (no idea what that even means, as my own home is certainly not "public"). I very much disagree. The tribute piece is lovely, and I think it would work beautifully on the smooth wall. What a sweet reminder of the man you loved. Hang it as is without hesitation.

Your tribute piece would be lovely there!

Should you choose to move in the future, I would remove all personal photos.

Until then, it's the home you live in right now, make it happy. From experience, personal photos of my family make me smile every day when I see them.

I thank you all for your comments. They are much appreciated. I will however leave the ship lap plain And put up the tribute photos to my husband on the solid wall. I think that’ll look perfect. Thank you all again.

Perhaps trying some artwork that goes with the room and includes the pinks that are around the room?

Depends on how big the piece is. Since you have a spotlight on the ship-lap, I would put it there. I would move one of the chairs closer to the wall and move the other chair to the other end of the sofa, if you can. Right now they look too close together and are blocking the fireplace.
