Security/motion light advice

Hello Houzz Community,

As part of a house build we are looking to install security/motion lights around the sides of the house and am a bit lost on what security lights to use, and how many lumens are required (or too much).

The lights will be located:

  • Facing the backyard (approximately 120 sq metres in a rough square shape)
  • Sides of the house (each of which are roughly 2 meters from a fence which borders the neighbour's property).

We were thinking of using a 2000 lumen light for the backyard, e.g. https://www.lightonline.com.au/philips-smartbright-led-motion-sensor-floodlight-2x15w.

For the sides of the house, the lights will be used to illuminate the side of the house for us to navigate at night (e.g. for taking out the bins). We'd like to use the same light for consistency but not sure of 2000 lumen is too bright (and may disturb the neighbours). A 500 lumen light has been suggested to us (https://www.beaconlighting.com.au/ledlux-helley-ii-twin-led-spot-light-with-sensor-in-black) but not sure if that's not bright enough?

Any advice would be most welcome, thank you!
