you can't really use a closet that narrow -- clothes are 20-24", which barely leaves you a foot to "walk in." the problem is the rear access door -- otherwise this would be maybe shelves at the back (or a linen closet from the bathroom) and a small reach-in closet from the front.

I think I might use it that way -- put a rod (or two) across the short direction, and use the space behind it for vacuum cleaner, skis, or other low-frequency items. you'll have space in front of the rods on either side for hooks for additional items, like longer dresses on hangars, or purses or belts, or even a set of shoe boxes stacked the narrow way. for additional storage, put a wardrobe or dresser against the wall backing the toilet.

You can also invite a custom closet sales rep to give you ideas. We found that independently owned closet solution places were better than California closet.

Great minds, and so nice you provided a drawing. Ha ha, I thought the same thing. What was the designer thinking?! Your solution eliminates the wasted closet “walkway” which was hardly adequate! In a condo this small, every inch counts! Who doesn’t love more space in the bathroom for a comfy chair or linen storage cabinet? 😉

Sydney- I would like to see remaining space layout but at a glance here is my initial idea. Sorry it’s dark but you get the idea. Condos typically limit what you can do so all changes might need approval. I would add a wall or a IKEA closet unit to the niche across from bed. I added a storage bench at foot of queen size bed for boots/handbags and such. Then I would check out one or two of these high closet systems for the other closet space. Use it for offseason clothing. I would put a night stand on each side with two drawers for more storage. Wall mounted sconces free up top of night stands. Under bed storage rollout bins can also add storage if bed allows. Each item has to provide more than one storage and function or as much as possible. Keeping surfaces clear is important for a open, uncluttered feeling.
