WiIt-Pruf was tried a few years back in a large public rose garden near me at great expense for @ 5,000 bushes, I may add.

No observable benefits were the result.

Don't know about Wilt-Pruf on rose canes but I have used it on boxwood for Winter protection on the evergreen leaves. When the box was younger and the Winters were colder, the box leaves would bronze every Winter from the cold and drying winds. It didn't kill the plants but was unsightly and required trimming every Spring. As the box got older and the Winters warmer, I haven't needed it. Because Wilt-Pruf was expensive I came to substitute a 50/50 solution of water and Future Floor Wax. I have since heard that this is no longer available. Probably any floor wax would work. The point is, if it helped keep the box leaves from drying out it probably helps the rose canes. Whether it helps them enough to prevent winter kill where you live is another question.

Maybe I'll give it a try on one of my duplicate roses this winter, see how it compares to the other next to it. Might lead to some good insights if we have a rough winter
