I did answer your question regarding paint colors in your other post, but when I received the notification about your question, the link they provided went nowhere, so not sure if things are working properly. Let me know if not and I’ll copy the info here.

Yes I got notified that you answered but I couldn’t see it. So yes, that’d be great if you could copy here. Thank you!

There was no way to copy and paste (sometimes this sight drives me crazy!), so I took a snapshot of the post. Hopefully it’s legible. Let me know if you can read this.

Thank you so much for the information...I’ll probably come up with more questions as we go! Just read about your automated shower...we had already decided on that bidet...now my husband wants to look into the shower setup you have😊 We purchased our lot over 2 years ago and have been working on plans since. It’s on the Central Coast of CA, Avila Beach on a down slopping lot full of oak trees. So we’re surrounded by oaks but it’s a 1.5 mile walk to the beach...our dream come true...Our 3 daughters are grown and married, having children, so our family is growing. We’re planning this home to accommodate our aging parents, our own aging, and want to have a place for our kids to come anytime...The main level is our living level, approx 2600 sq ft, the lower level will be for visitors and is approx 1300 sq ft. All the planning is exciting, but also stressful. I’ll post a couple pics of our land and house plans. So appreciate you sharing your thoughts and experiences over the building of your beautiful home! Thank you again!!

Hopefully no fires near where you’re building!

Not sure if you are married to your plan or not, but I just felt it important to mention that the interior space of your main living areas (kitchen, dining, and living) will be pretty dark. Since those areas face north, and will be completely covered with overhangs, and with no windows in the kitchen, light will not easily penetrate into those spaces. And you will get no areas of actual sunshine coming in your windows. I only mention it because I am a fanatical windows person and crave a bright interior filled with sunshine and natural light. Not sure if that was important to you.

Regarding the Kohler toilet and digital shower.....LOVE them! Not to get too personal, but that toilet is the only one in the house I will use and when we take a trip away from home, I REALLY miss my toilet!

Love the digital shower. It has a settings memory for 4 different individuals. It’s nice to be able to tap on my name and have it automatically start up the shower with my personal settings (especially my preset temp ....no fiddling to get the temp just right). I did get the maximum number of valves available so that I can operate each head and body spray independently from one another (or have them on all at once if I choose....although the pressure on each spray/head will be reduced if they’re all on at once).

Thank you Nidnay for your input...yes we have been concerned with lighting in living area...it’s actually facing northwest which will help a little in the afternoon...the only covered balcony is out of living rm, balcony off dining and master is open. Although I’m not a huge fan of skylights, our GC is adding them into the plan (living rm and kitchen) and we’ll decide once we’ve framed and have a better feel for everything. The Kohler bidet was already in our plan, but we’ll definitely be looking into the digital shower. On the subject of flooring, do you know anyone with wood floors and large dogs? Everything we hear seems to be a definite no😞. I was wondering, where are you located? Thank you so much for sharing your ideas!!

    We’re in North Carolina.

Don’t have any friends with large dogs. If you haven’t already, maybe do a search on HOUZZ for “large dogs and hardwoods”. I’m sure something will come up.

I've had medium size dogs with hardwoods. They weren't very active. but the floors do get scratched. Even with trimming nails. Maybe get an extra coat of polyurethane to give you more wear.. As much as I despise that , I don't think I could go with vinyl, laminate or engineered wood.
