You can put it in water, they will probably still open. If there are nodes left below the break, it might push out another spike from a lower node.

Thank you James. That's what I did and I'll be hoping for some flowers to open. No nodes on the main stem, this is from a plant that bloomed like crazy from March through August and when i went to trim the stem, i found his new shoot and was so surprised to see the buds. This never happened to me before. i kicked myself when broke it off while staking it!

I know the feeling all too well.

Nothing better than finding a surprise spike and nothing worse than breaking it off.

The plant sounds happy if it’s flowering so much , maybe it will form another spike.
