Please help with rhaphidophora tetrasperma. New growth points rotted.

I previously chopped my rhaphidophora tetrasperma in July 2020 and I waited around 2 months for two new growth points to sprout. I noticed that the size of the growth points remained the same and no leaves were growing out of them. I checked one of the growth point today and saw that the growth point has rotted away, leaving behind some slimy residue. Please help!

I keep the plant in a south facing window with very diffused light and water only when the soil is dry.

How often are you watering? Have you checked the roots recently? It sounds like you have crown rot.

I water only when dry, so once a week in the summer because it was getting a lot of light, and now I’m watering every 2 weeks.

I haven’t checked the roots because there is another RT in the same pot that is super tall, so I don’t want to mess with the root just in case I might break some things.
