A plumber used plumbers putty when installing a soap dispenser.

I have used a canned granite oil stain remover several times over several weeks and it has removed around 90% of the stain, but I am no longer seeing any more progress with removing the remaining darkened area with additional applications.

Is there anything that can be done to remove the last of the stain before sealant is reapplied to the granite?
