Before this week’s Amazon Prime Days...

Are there in ‘must haves’ for anyone? I don’t think we need or want anything.

Is it just me?

I’ve got my eye on an Instant Air Fryer, but am concerned about the possibility of a “plastic” taste in the foods cooked in it (according to some of the reviewers).

Jinx, A convection toaster oven, like Cuisinart's, will get you great results with baked fried foods.

Thanks, Zalco! I’ll check them out.

I'm going to check for some stuff I would be buying anyway like my Olaplex hair products which are ridiculously expensive but work so ridiculously well.

I also want to buy a book as a thank you gift for a friend, so hoping the one I have in mind will be on sale.

I don't really do recreational shopping any more though. Have everything I need other than perishables and gift items.

I am thinking about a couple of things for gifts if on sale, but for me, nothing I need.

I have a 6 quart instant pot, for which I’d like to get a Mealthy crisper lid, so that I don’t have to buy an air fryer separately. Will be on the lookout for the Mealthy lid.

So, running, please tell us about Olaplex hair products!

The only things I need for myself are new pillows-- and likely a new down comforter but i am shopping the company store sale for those.

Would love to hear more about the gifts people are seeking-- which le creuset wine opener? what else?

I am dreading the holidays this year-- the first without my dad (who was just so joyous with gift giving and receiving) and i am in the midst of rolling out a new software system which is sucking all the time and joy from my life for the previous and next 3 months. I'd love ideas and help from you all!

I flipped through some of the deals earlier this morning. Didn't see anything that grabbed me. As others mentioned, I can't think of anything we need or want. Christmas gift giving is very low key for my family and I can't think of any gifts I would buy from amazon this year.

    Mealthy Lid???? !!!!

Do they actually replace the need for an air fryer? Do they work? Why haven’t I heard of such a thing?

I have an instant pot (seldom used).

Maddielee, yes it allows you to use your instant pot as an air fryer without a sea parade air fryer. I’ve heard great things about it. You may want to read reviews to see if it interests you.

    https://www.amazon.com/Mealthy-CrispLid-Pressure-Cooker-Silicone/dp/B07RZDFVQV

There is also a similar product made by the makers of instant pot.

I love my InstaPot and use it often. I'm going to read the mealthy reviews now, nutsaboutplants, as I'm craving restaurant fried foods. I wonder if the mealthy would help... Probably? maybe a little?

Sheesh, my understanding is that it does. I roast or bake (depending on the type of food) things that are traditionally deep-fried. But the air fryer is closer to deep-fried food in terms of texture, with little oil/cooking spray. I’m looking forward to using it if I find a good deal on it.

I am looking for the instant Pot 8 quart with an air fryer. Hoping for a good deal and good reviews. This is for a gift that has been requested.

OMG, I love the auto correct in @nutsaboutplants post that changed “separate” to “sea parade”. I am going to look for lots of “sea parade” items now:)

bpath -- please be careful about Thermapen on Amazon. The Thermoworks website has warnings about counterfeit products being sold on Amazon, ebay and other sites. It has been in a banner across their website for a long tome now. Thermoworks has sales -- better to sign up for their emails -- they don't over do it. I think maybe one a week or every other week?

Lol, local. No one can understand me when my autocrat is on. Lol.

Thanks, Nuts. We eat hardly any fried foods, but I do miss the occasional deliciousness of fried chicken etc. I may indulge myself with one.

So has anyone found any great deals?

I purchased shark vacuums for my daughters. I think my young adult darlings have been vacuuming with their dust busters for years.

Original price $230, prime day $128. I researched the price and saw the same model number at other stores for much more than $230.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FX7Z3NL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

That's a good deal on the sharks. I've only bought some dog flea meds so far, and my other purchase target was already sold out. I'm looking at the competing sales for deals... strangely looking at electronics.

I did it! I bought both the Shark and the air fryer lid! I'm excited! Thanks for the good tips.

Help, do I have to be a Prime Member to buy that vacuum? Or, will they charge me more money?

I didn't need big stuff. I think I'd like a convection toaster oven, but I just don't want anything else on my counter. And if it's not on the counter, it'll be forgotten.

I did get a deal on Matrix So Silver shampoo and Crest White Strips. I got a roll of sisal to redo my cats' scratching posts.

we're a computer heavy house and needed new backup storage. we wound up buying three new hard drives!

ratherbesewing I'm not sure, but maybe. just put it in your cart and see what the price is. or is there a friend with prime who can order for you? just have them ship it to you.

If you see the Thermapen on sale can you post it here please? I use ours a bunch and that would make a good gift for the young adult kids.

Blonde moment--It's on sale at Thermoworks today and tomorrow for $75. Is that a good sale? I didn't think I paid that much.

RN, I just checked and Amazon doesn't carry that brand, but they do carry a lot of other brands.

I can't find anything with a great sale unless I want electronics which we have plenty of.

    Gain bundles sounds good. ;)

They do have the Bose speaker that you can use for Zoom calls on sale. This is a great deal!

Sheesh, which air fryer lid did you get? Link, please?

I picked this up for my classroom for $86.70 just now. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01HETFPTU/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1

ratherbesewing, unfortunately, your Amazon account has to be enrolled in Prime to get the vacuum deal. If you try to buy it without Prime it will only show the original price.

Can you still enroll in Prime monthly? Used to be like, $12.99 a month. Doing that & getting the Shark would make it worthwhile.

Here is the link to the fryer I bought, nutsaboutplants

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VF7J5VQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

Yes, pudgeder, you can enroll monthly for $12.99 a month. Today they were offering a free 30 day Prime trial.

So I ended up getting a couple of gifts. I just bought a Cuisinart convection/air fryer toaster oven for $124.99 (reg 199.99) for DD and DSiL. They wanted one for their camper, but I expect it will also rotate into their house too.

I also bought a cute little pale turquoise mini Keurig for DGD for $45. They are normally $99 and of course you can get at BB&B for 20% off most anytime.

I haven't bought anything from Amazon today, but I did buy a few gifts, some Christmas supplies, etc. and other items. Many stores are having sales today and tomorrow to compete with Amazon.

RNmom, the Thermapen that is on sale is the MK4 -- the most advanced and most expensive model. It is backlit and has a rotating screen, I don't think I have ever seen it for less. Maybe not even at that price. That is a good price.

The Revlon Hot Air Brush is half price for Prime Day - only $29.39 instead of $59.99. I just received one for my birthday and it works great!

I'm staying the hell out of this thread for the rest of today. I keep ordering things that you guys have ordered. Terriks and Jinx, I'm looking at you.

I'm also enjoying the matching sales at the other competing retailers as well, or others in the amazon family. I picked up a battery brick for $12 at Woot, an air fryer at BestBuy, and a bunch of other small things at Amazon. And my order from WF arrived this morning (but the chuck they had on sale sold out and was not in my bags). Still may buy some other things, as I work through all the sales. Gotta support the economy ;)

I am teethwhitening as I type! My goodies came today.

Bunny, I plead the 5th. *whistling*

ETA: Had to stop whistling because I’m drooling so much. Man! I’ve never used these before, my mouth is acting like I’m torturing it. I need that dentist sucker upper tube thing. 😬

    Hah Jinx, can't wait. :o

    How about a bib?

I stuffed a paper towel in my mouth. 😆

Ok, I thought we had the MK4 but we had the classic Thermopen. That explains why I didn't recall spending that much on it.

Yes, those have gone on sale below $50. I have one of each and bought a classic for each of my sons after they graduated from college. They had a $19 version until them.

it might be too late for it but I shopped at Whole Foods today, scanned the app at checkout, and got a $10 credit for amazon. but the deal ends today. something you might want to keep in mind for next year though!

Why do Crest White Strips make you drool so much? Is it normal salivation or because it's something foreign and your mouth is trying to flush it out? I get a couple of sheets of paper towel and dab and mop the whole time. It's definitely messy and weird.

Bunny! 😂 I was asking my DH the same thing, nearly word for word. It’s so gross.

I do dry my teeth first, but that just helps with the initial application. I actually start salivating before I even open the package. 😬

I will say — I’ve noticed a difference after a week of it. My problem is coffee and wine, and it’s working great on those. I’m so happy with the results ... just not being Drooly McDroolMouth every morning for 30 minutes.

I actually start salivating before I even open the package. 😬

Jinx, I start when I peel the lower strip off its sheet. We're a couple of Pavlov's pooches.

The first 5 minutes are the worst. Then it settles down a bit. I could use some of those cotton sausages they pack in at the dentist's.

I'm 6 days in. I also drink coffee and red wine. Keeping fingers crossed.
