Congrats on the new house! Although very tempting to update the countertops, I would save my money and really think about your preferred layout, as this one is quite closed off, which you may like. The cabinets appear in good shape, but the backsplash and tiled floor appears outdated, which is why I’d also save and wait. If there’s one thing I learned, it’s to be patient so I don’t regret my decisions and end up spending more $$ or redoing it.

We are redoing all flooring + gutting the bathrooms which is why the kitchen will have to wait. I can replace the countertops + backsplash for around 3K. We eventually want to redo the layout but the cooktop in the middle and age of everything turns me off. I'd like to replace appliances + counters if we can swap out the wall cabinet.

Have you been in your home for at least 6 months. I'd wait at least this amount of time before making any kitchen decisions.

I assume that you're redoing the kitchen flooring, so buy extra for when you decide to move stuff around...Good Luck!
