Hi, im new here and hoping to get some advice on a situation I have going on with a open pit with some exposed pipe in the basement. I have lived in my home for about 2 years and get an awful sewer smell recently, especially when it rains. Its a small house so the odor is pretty much everywhere (There are no mold issues as this has already been addressed). I found this open pit in basement that has water coming from a pipe. Looks like a old flood pipe? Im having a plumber come out Wednesday to check out the situation and see what can be done. Im thinking the pipe is connected to a city line that could be blocked or has something dead in it ? smell is pretty foul and sticks to everything. I have a sump but water still fills up to the same level every time it rains. See photos.
