I wouldn’t use them in a controlled, highly cultivated environment because they run far and wide. But they’d be fine under shrubs or in a less formal spot. Another consideration is that weeds growing amongst wild strawberries are fiddly to remove. It’s really only possible with hand weeding. One final thought. Are they definitely strawberries and not Duchesnea indica? If the latter you won’t get edible fruit.

All strawberries make excellent ground covers. I harvest an enormous amount of berries every year. Alpine strawberries should do as well. I got my plants from Burpees.
