The wood on the ceiling is select quarter sawn white oak, and the same on the cabinetry, but with a wire brushed finish to add grain texture. The floor is plain sawn walnut.

Can you tell me about the sheen? All the samples I get keep being ultra matte which looks unfinished and doesn't show off the grain. But they tell me that's all they're making because that's the trend. Are these surfaces matte (in which case maybe my samples will be fine) or were you able to get them made with at least a satin gloss?

If your cabinet maker is persistent in their refusal you could always have a painter apply a satin finish over them after delivery.

With some practice you could even do it yourself (this type of finish is pretty forgiving to amateurs)
