PT normally goes dormant in late fall. So there’s that.

Steve - if you are using your full reflective light system, the PT should push eventually. But being the lowest bud, hormonal dominance is at play. Not sure how much of the sour folliage is above or if you have cut back. You can turn the pot horizontal and bend the sour down if you dont want to cut back the sour rootstock yet. Or you can limit light to the sour above the PT bud and put a bulb directly at your PT and that should stimulate the bud.

The tree is already broken over and the light is on the bud for 18 hours a day and the zit continues to grow. Clearisil time.

Curious if the outer surface of the swollen bud is dry? Not a leave bud, but I have noticed flower buds on my lemon tree when it was in my basement, that didn't open properly, the outer layers seems to dry together. The flower buds would sometimes finally split on the side, but never fully open. I used a knife to cut open some of the buds, which then opened somewhat normally.

I see this most often when the tree is inside during low humidity winter. But that isn't necessarily a causal relationship.

Ken I believe you are correct on it being a flower bud.

Steve, you can use a razor to open the bud up, if it's been stuck like that for a long period, the outer petals are probably not going to open naturally. Eventually, you should get desired growth once the flower bud gets done and the Poncirus realizes it needs to push some vegetative growth.

Pretty cool to have grafted a node that pushed a flower. I'd be stoked!

Steve, are you up for a taste test of that nugget? Sour is considered one of the best rootstocks for provided better tasting fruit. Maybe that Pon can be called a Honey Pon :)

BTW - I think you give the fruit a name and post updates, cause it's the first time I've ever seen or heard of a graft popping a fruit!
