White/light brown spots on fig leaves

Hi, I see some white/light brown spots on the leaves of my little fig tree. They are just white spots surfing on the leaves at first, but slowly turning into dried out spots. Does anyone have any idea about why? I’m in Bay Area and I keep it indoor. Thank you!

1. Can these stains be wiped off (before they dry out the leaf), or are they imbedded in the leaf?

2. Are you spraying your fig with anything, water included?

@JoJo (Nevada 9A)Hi JoJo, thank you for helping me here! The stains cannot be wiped off. They are imbedded in the leaf. I was away from home for a week and my roommate might spray water on it, but nothing else. Will water also cause the spots? Is there anything I need to do now?

The reason I'm asking about the water is because where I live (in the desert) we have "salty" water, full of minerals. It often stains leaves to the point of "burning" them, especially in the summer when the minerals are more concentrated. So it looked familiar to me. But I don't think you would have the same issue in the Bay area.
