Garage joists run back to front as normal, are 2x8 I believe. I would like to mount a heavy duty curtain track on the joists perpendicular to the direction they run. It is galvanized steel that I'll be drilling through before mounting.

The joists are 70 years old or so, and as such I would like to ensure that I use the proper mounting wood screws on the 2 inch wide joists so that 1) it properly supports the track and 2) doesn't damage the wood.

Appreciate any thoughts you all may have on the above.
