Flimsy number two.

My sister, who lives some 200 miles away, belongs to a group that makes chemo quilts for their local hospital. They meet weekly and of course, they have not been able to do so. She was missing that interaction and so suggested that she and I work on the same pattern to see what we could come up with.

I had just cut out the pieces for the balloon quilt and all those Asians were still on the table, so they got used again.

The pattern is called Propeller.

I have to go shopping for backing material.

I love it, Theresa. I've already drawn it out on graph paper. It's such perfect pattern for those small, but not tiny scraps. It looks wonderful in the Asian prints. I've got scraps from about 10 Asian prints, but I don't know that 10 would be enough variety. Fortunately, I have tons of other fabrics that would work. Thanks for the great idea. I think it's a wonderful quilt. You have certainly been busy.

Lois, the pattern I used made a 10” fin. Block. If you do a search, you will see many ways of doing it, same colour or mixed up.

I really like the pattern. And of course, it looks great scrappy. Someone will really appreciate it. And why do you call them "flimsy"?

That's just another word for a quilt top. And, indeed, it is flimsy before you add batting and backing and quilt it. I think that it's a term used in England. It's kind of like they use the term "wadding" and we use "batting".

At least, that's what I surmise. You see it used a lot on QuiltingBoard.com.

Theresa, I just finished cutting out all the pieces for a child's quilt in this pattern made with bright prints. It will have only 24 blocks in a 4 x 6 layout. I'll be taking the pieces to Palm Desert when we go after Christmas. I wasn't going to take my machine this year, because I never used it at all last winter. However, with Covid, I'm sure I'll have a lot more free time. There will be a lot less going out to dinner with friends, probably no one coming to visit, no cards or mahjong - just golf - but lots of sun and warm weather.
