The crows here often remain in the agricultural fields around town until the neighbor's Black Walnut begins ripening its fruit. Then, they drop them all over the neighborhood to crack them and feast on the meat.

We have a family of crows that hangs out on our street during the day. Sometimes they search our lawn for bugs. Every evening though we see hundreds of them flying West. DH and I always wondered where they went at night. It turns out they go to a nearby reservoir every evening according to ‘neighbors in the know’ on the NextDoor app.

We have black walnut street trees here, and the crows put the walnuts in the traffic lanes of the street in front of our house, and the cars run over them, and the crows come and get the nut meat. Very smart, crows!
