Slow down IMO you either have all the same cabinets and a show stopper island counter or all the same counters and a colored island cabinets but not both and I would never mix real stone and fake stone and I also do not like honed granite , polished granite is almost bullet proof why open it up to staining at all.

Beth H....here are the granite and quartz slabs. You got me thinking and researching, Patricia Colwell Consulting. I’m seeing a lot of solid gray countertops with a white and grey vein island. It’s a beautiful combination!

Jeannie - how are you liking your honed Vermont black granite? Wondering if it shows fingerprints and oil like honed abs black granite and some complain about? How’s the maintenance? Thank you!

I absolutely love it! I’m not having an issue with fingerprints at all. I’m a clean freak, so when using oil I put a napkin under the bottle. I wipe down my counters with a soapy solution and it looks great. I see more glass rings on my white quartz. Lol! It’s all about the lighting too. I love the end product!

It’s beautiful Jeannie! So if you do get some oil stains on it, the soapy solution wipes it off no problem?

looks very nice jeannie. Did you apply a sealer to your black?

My fabricator put a sealer on the granite that I can easily apply myself every so often. It actually made the stone a little darker and prettier. I don’t really get marks, but when I do the soapy water gets them out. I never use windex or other cleaning agents on it.
