Purple Firespike Odontonema strictum is per se a winter flowering plant. I have many of this.

If you can grow gaillardia, you can probably grow beach sunflower - they bloom year round and are very carefree.

My other two are : Rondeletia leucophylla Panama Rose, and Salvia coccinea (native). The second blooms all year without interruption except in very cold spell.

My Pentas are looking nice. Some nights/mornings the temperature was in low thirties.

I put in 3 plants of allysum, blushing princess. They were blooming when I brought them from the garden center and still are. So far they seem to be happy.

We've had temps in the high 30's, but no frost.

Alyssum is pretty hardy and will self sow but three alyssum doesn't seem very many. They’ll cover a couple of square feet at the most. How big is your planting area?

My planting area is 7 feet long X 2 feet wide

If it was all to be planted with Alyssum I’d be thinking of at putting in a couple more plants.

I am not sure if you are still looking for plants, but gerber daisies and delphiniums are blooming well for me in sw FL.

A freeze bit some plants. I can report that the flowers of the Salvia and of the Pentas did not skip a beat.
