I forgot to mention there is another entry into the kitchen from the hallway, near the bar area.

That ruins the chic urban feel of a city condo which your place has with its current furnishings.

Your place is beautiful, please don't ruin it.

When you show it to prospective buyers remove everything from the kitchen counters except a coffee maker.

Remove half the things from your bar shelves and remove everything from the counter below your bar shelves except a beautiful ice bucket on a beautiful tray.

We know you are probably an entertainer extraordinaire, however -

You don't want your place to read to a prospective buyer "All these things are out because this condo doesn't have enough storage."

Your portrait is absolutely stunning, but I would suggest removing it for showings. And remove all family photos, too.

You want your buyers to imagine themselves in the condo, not you or your your family or anyone else.

Even if you have to put all these glorious things of yours in boxes in your car for showings.

No barn doors for the reasons above plus I think their 15 minutes of fame is quickly waning.

The barn doors will add nothing - and will in fact detract from the decor you have now.

I’m hearing a big “no” on the barn doors, but still thinking about some wow factor. Maybe just COVID bored.

you can certainly do two smaller doors on a track. just depends on what you want to spend. ( I did my own in my bathroom for about $200)

since you have more of a modern flair, look at walnut slab doors (get the track on eBay)

pocket doors are also an option

It’s really an attractive space already, very tasteful, I don’t think it needs a major change to sell. Let the peaceful, elegant decor, nice light, and views be the focus. I especially wouldn’t add anything that would be a pain to remove and repair if a buyer doesn’t like it. (Plus, the vent there.)

Beth, those are beautiful! Pocket doors would be too much construction and beyond my skill set, but I really like those.

Jinx, forgot about the vent, but they would be open most of the time and I could position the hardware to not interfere.

No on any kind of sliding-on-a-rail door, whatever they’re called. Your place is not rustic.

littlebug, I wasn’t going to do rustic door more contemporary. But I’m still hearing a resounding no.

I think your time would be better spent painting the dark wall white.

Instead, buy two vertical shaped pieces of artwork and put one on either side of the opening to the kitchen. Pick something you love and take it with you when you move!

Actually, I like the dark wall here, and a wonderful round or starburst mirror would be perfect against that dark wall.

Or a whimsical food /dining related poster

and I think flowers or even long stemmed leaves in a simple glass vase on the dining table would be perfect.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I just painted the wall dark; reflection of my mood I guess. I’ve decided to not do barn doors:(. I have so much art in the living area with a salon wall that I felt it was a nice break to have only the one painting in the dining room. Since I’m a sorta artist, I like to support other artists in buying original art.

I love your dark wall, it looks great. From what I can see, your place will show very nicely. You have a great style, and a good balance of subdued but still very interesting.

I was just going to write pretty much what Jinx just wrote! I think that your space is absolutely lovely exactly as it is, artwork and all, and I would not change a thing when it comes to showing it to prospective buyers. It will indeed show beautifully. It has a subtle personality that shines through, and is a welcome relief from the "same old same old."

How far does that wall extend to the left? Would you consider painting it the same dark color to define the dining space? Perhaps you feel like it needs something, and that’s why you were contemplating adding barn doors.

Carolae, I hadn’t thought of painting it dark as well. I painted the dark wall dark to make the bump out recede otherwise it makes the table and everything look off center.

Definitely NO, you cannot. You have no idea what people will love or hate. Your place is gorgeous.

I'm on the no side of this, why add more to an already beautiful space you have? Let the future buyer decide what they want to do with the space.
