Depends upon your location. Shaker is quite popular in many areas, as is flat front (more contemporary). Both styles are easier to clean than those styles with ornate details, deep grooves, etc.. Color choices vary-lighter in some areas of the U.S., and darker choices in others. Painted cabinets done at the factory are popular in N.Y., Washington, D.C., New England States, some sections of Pennsylvania, etc.. Black is more popular in contemporary/urban settings (warehouse conversions, etc.).
