Did you wrap your in ground fig tree for the winter?

I sure the heck did. Just in time. It was growing 6 feet high and I have not seen snows or winter temps until yesterday.

Just a few hours before we got a blast of snow and winds at 60 miles per hour and the thirties all day with winds at over 40 miles per hour, everything frozen I did it lol

Should be ok for the winter now if it should get even colder than this up here in Massachusetts..

What about you? IT's a great feeling to know it's safe and protected)

I just re-adjusted my fig protection today. It is a bad practice to cover it with plastic. When I removed the plastic cover, water was dripping. So I removed the plastic top, put on more hay/straw and covered with recycle bins with small holes.

We'll get 10F middle of the week.

We had 6 inches of snow in October

I moved all fig trees on garage, that night after I moved trees in garage freeze was -5°C the next night -11°C a week later was +17°C 🌞

I have 3 young figs in ground that I covered after that -5°C night.

I am glad it's December already, missing my green fig trees in backyard.

Ha. Looks what happened to mine too. I’ll take a pic tomorrow too of it all wrapped up! October. Must of been the same storm

Oh snow on figs! that's fun to see LOL

Mike, I'm glad you were able to do it in time. Weather in Dec -Jan is so unpredictable even with what we are told ahaha!

Matt, that too funny an you are right ! Lol

Mines is all wrapped up just in time although I think I could of waited since I don't think any branches die in temps no lower than the teens...I see 40's by day and 20's by night for the next 15 days. Better safe than sorry, right? Now it and I can rest in peace. lol

Love the fact you are growing yours too. We have so many plants in common))

You should see how huge my Kishu tree got. Sweet fruit all picked planted in ground)

I have noticed that aha, a lot of common plants! I'm glad there's a little more stable temps coming your way.

I have heard a few people having them and all saying good things. What are the odds, I was literally just watching californiagardener on youtube and his Kishu plant! Did you find it's a quick fruiting cycle to harvest? being smaller fruit?

Hello, I just put a first outer layer of plastic to protect the insulation and then make a few slits. Then a second outer layer again with slits in different spots. I get no moisture build up..

Matt, thanks. Will take a pic of it. I have to use a bungee cord to hold it up against the top of the greenhouse. Love it. Almost like an arch.

I did nothing. Just like years past. And my figs are still alive and well in the spring. Too much work in my opinion. Did it the first year and that was it. South central pa.
