How are the fiber-cement panels applied?

How did you install the fiber panels? I am interested in doing this in my master bath. The look is amazing. Are the seams filled with caulk? Or is there some other product involved? What goes behind the panels? Are the fasteners stainless steel?

    There are different ways to do it. We installed the panels with stainless steel oval-head screws over two layers of building paper over plywood/OSB over the studs. It's best to install the screws into studs but if for whatever reason you can't then using plywood allows the fasteners to always have something to "bite" into, important when laying out the screws in an aesthetically pleasing pattern. Panels were predrilled then painted before installation and once up joints were caulked with urethane sealant.
