Will the rug work with the new cabinet or are you wanting to change that as well.

Thanks for pointing that out!

Everything will be cleared out. Clean slate.

Yes, a floor plan would be helpful. Do you need a good Zoom background or do you plan to use a screen. Do you have to work around an internet box? I would recommend that if you are doing videoconferencing that you have a ethernet hardwired connection vs. relying on wireless.

I like the color of the credenza and the rug. I think a white desk and white bookshelves will look great. Gray walls will look nice with all the yellow.

For Zoom, elevate the laptop and consider a ring light. Moreover, the wall behind you above desk height is probably the most important element. Consider art, and shelves with books, and you must have a succulent somewhere. See "room rater."

The "floor plan": It's an 11' x 11' square room with two south side by side windows. I am zooming and need a neutral background. The internet box is small and will be hidden.

I have the succulent!

The rug has to go because the dog ruined it.

Lotsa light is important so I need to keep the walls white.

What is a "room rater?"

from "Slate.com"

When quarantine began, it didn’t take long for us to come to the collective realization that we’re a bunch of Zoom voyeurs: During those endless video conferences, haven’t we all been checking out what the inside of every house we see looks like, casing each joint from afar? Nice gallery wall, by the way. Everyone from the New York Times to CBS Sunday Morning has reported on our new pastime of peeping into living rooms, kitchens, offices, and beyond that belong to both people we know and people we don’t.

But because this is happening in the context of the internet, we can’t stop at peeping. Around here, we quantify and rate things: We gives stars to our purchases; we count how many likes our Instagram posts get; on dating apps, we take only seconds to decide which direction to swipe in; once upon a time, we declared people hot or not. So it only makes sense that a more finite way to analyze and critique other people’s homes would emerge from all this. It now exists in the form of a Twitter account, Room Rater, that collects a bunch of living rooms and home offices in one place and makes a snap judgment about each one.

FWIW, if you are doing a lot of calls and want to look professional:

The ring lights main purpose is to cast an even light onto the subject. This reduces shadows in the face and minimizes blemishes, while illuminating the eyes. This is why ring lights are commonly used in portraits, glamour shots, or even videography capturing only one subject.

Their top rated one is like $25. It's not visible to the viewer

I will be doing Telehealth via Zoom so professionalism is mandatory. That's why I want a neutral background to avoid distractions.

I will order the light, that's so helpful!
