Kitchen backsplash questions

My husband and I are having a house built in Lakeville, MN. This is the backsplash tile work done in the kitchen. We find this work questionable. The builder maintains that this is done right. Shouldn't this be fixed? what type of fix would you suggest?
The builder is offering the following options as a compromise. Is this acceptable?
Thank you

Thank you for the quick reply. Do you think we must ask them to provide at least the tiles to fix the issue?

Need to see the far left end of the tile. If there was a fixed location there, where the left tile had to start, the right side just goes with whatever comes out. If so, just live with what you have, besides, as soon as you put an appliance or storage container in the corner the issue will disappear.

What was the layout centered on? The window? The wall? Nothing?

Yes. Made more obvious by the pillowed tile. It was laid out wrong. You would have to remove it and start over.

PS - the "compromise" is worse lol.

Is it annoying? Yes. Does it immediately catch your eye? Yes. Would I demand a fix? Probably not. If it is just one example of a long list of things that are poorly planned and careless and preventable then I would begin asking for solutions. If it’s one of a short list and otherwise you are pleased with everything I’d take a really deep breath and figure out how to live with it . Overall the tile looks nice, tight straight lines, and once you place things on the counter your eye will stop going there immediately.

The tile appears to be off color because the light can't ever hit the angled tile the same way it hits the sides. Not a bad idea, but I'd try a small strip of gloss white solid surface.

Did your builder grout between the bottom row of tile and the countertop? That joint should be silicone color matched to the grout. It looks fine now, but when the top and wall inevitably move, you'll get a small continuous crack that's too small to push any more grout into, but large enough to see and contaminate.

Stick a paper towel holder or something in front of it?

I was thinking the same thing.

Something is going to get stuck in that corner and you’ll never see it. A vase of flowers, perhaps.

Get a large recipe book with a pretty cover and place it on a bookstand right in that corner ... you will never see the tile!

I don’t think the fix is very good. Maybe a pencil trim piece could be attached to cover it.
