My bathroom has a similar layout. I have matching rugs for the shower step out and in front of the sink. That may be easier to find.

This is what I have done.

In front of the sink, I have an indoor/outdoor type rug that is flat as a fluffy rug would not go under the door when it's opened/closed. Then a fluffy type mat for when one gets out of the shower and is only down when using the shower.

Much easier to throw two smaller rugs in the wash than one long one.

Why do you need any kind of additional floor covering as it would just create additional visual clutter and be one more obstacle to clean around.

I don't have any floor coverings in my bathroom. I put down a "used" towel when I take a shower to step onto and then the used towel is put into the hamper and washed, There is no clutter on the floor and it simplifies cleaning.

IMO one mat and in my tiny bathroom I roll it up on the back of the toilet when not used for the shower.

I like a runner rug in front of the vanity. I use a similarly-colored small machine-washable rug in front of the toilet, and we have bath mats (matching the towel set) for stepping out of the tub or shower. They get wet and we hang the bath mats over the shower door between uses so they can dry out.

I would do just one for the shower area. I like Patricia idea of keeping it rolled up and ready if this is just a guest bathroom and is not used for showering everyday.

If you have any males using the bathroom, you do not want a rug to close to the toilet... ;-)

Forget males, I don't want to roll up anything that sits on the floor and stick it on top of my toilet tank. Yuck.

I also don't want rugs or mats dangling from my tub or shower either.

two small rugs will be easier to wash. Really pretty bathroom btw.

Totally different look and feel, but we have a diatomaceous earth/clay "mat" we bought after using them in Japan. Easy to find online.
