Hardwood floor installation question.

last modified: 5 years ago

I've been updating my staircase. I had hardwood floors installed last spring. I have enough left over to do the hallway/landing on the second floor. I've watched a lot of videos and read a lot of articles on the best way to do this. I have a system that I can not find any examples of. The landing tread is in front of the base rail with the infill strips. I think it came as a system. when I pulled up the carpet I was hoping that the landing tread was under it. It is not. I was hoping that I could under cut it to make the transition. I'm not sure what to do now. I will post pictures.

This is what I need to butt the hardwood floors next too. this is what it look like with out the carpet next to it. Any ideas?

This is the system. I kept left over pieces from when we had the house built 17 years ago.

This is what it looks like with the carpet pulled back a bit.
