Follow the link here to see some variations of crown molding with vaulted ceilings. Personally, I think it often emphasizes the issues with the ceiling rather than finishing off the look.

No crown moulding on the type of ceiling you have. It just will not look good.

Crown doesn’t work well with sloped ceilings, especially not this modern ceiling shape. Build a false vault and drop the ceiling to a human scale.

Thanks for suggestions. Currently there is no wall or ceiling light and we would like to paint as well. Should we go with fan and chandelier along with few recessed lights? and 1 dark shade on walls and 1 light tone of same shade on ceiling?

I think vaulted ceiling will cost around 20k and is way too expensive for my current budget:(

IMO no crown on a vaulted ceiling and I like the ceiling and walls all one color in this situation and the wall color comes after choosing bedding which then drives both the style and the wall color in a bedroom. IMO pot lights in a vaulted ceiling are pretty useless , if you show the whole bedroom from further back I can see where you might put a ceiling light but really bedooms are nicer lit with night table almps maybe a reading lamp beside a chaire and the over head lighting more for getting the right light for cleaning or entry into the space . I would do no window treatment on the stained glass windows and if at all possible a much larger window where you have the other window or at least a much wider drapery rod to do full length drapes again in a color that works with the bedding or matches the walls. You could maybe even add a couple of sconces for added light. I need to have some idea of your style for sure and IMO that desk needs to go and no vertical blinds ever and especailly in a bedroom.

I agree to even the vault out when you can. But definitely no crown. You can add bigger baseboards and wall molding/wainscoting. I would add a chandelier rather than a fan
depending on the style your after, maybe consider blue paint.

I liked the idea of drop vaulted ceiling. I need more suggestions for light and colors. I have not bought the bed yet so I am flexible with paint colors

Bigger windows on the wall straight ahead of the bed. Color depends on the style your after. What style do you like best

My bedroom is similar to what yours would look like with the false vault. We did not do crown molding - our walls are blue ceiling is off white - I agree with others that all one color generally looks good (though that would have been odd in our house due to the rest of our space).

We have a beam across the point of the vault - It adds that bit of flare that crown molding would normally bring. It also gave us a place to hang a chandelier (we also have lamps on our nightstands for softer light).

Apparently, I don't have any pictures of the space.

You could add horizontal trim at the top of and against the 8' part of the wall over the row of windows and the same height all around the room. You could paint the wall and trim and ceiling all the same color or use that horizontal trim board to make a distinction between the wall and ceiling colors.

For decorative purposes, you could simply ignore the area above the horizontal trim or on the wall above the headboard of your bed, create a single deep box wall to wall box shelf about a foot square just beneath the trim board. Whether you leave that shelf open or add solid doors or glass doors depends upon what you want to add/store there.

One idea, depending upon your headboard and personal taste, might be to create that box shelf across the wall EXCEPT directly above the bed, adding only a top horizontal board there, and then paint the wall between the top board and floor behind your headboard so it is your favorite bold color as an accent wall in an otherwise neutral colored room, with or without vertical trim boards, depending upon your headboard and how you want to "frame" your accent wall or just

If you don't want to totally ignore the area above the 8' mark for decorating purposes, you could choose to leave the area below the 8' mark blank except for headboard and lights and/or go ahead and decorate the entire wall with a single theme using items that specifically express an interest you have -- such as music:

thanks for suggestions. I am thinking to go with drop vaulted ceiling. I am very confused with the paint colors. what colors look good on vaulted ceiling if I want to do same paint on walls and ceiling

Omg I’m so excited for you. Love that idea. I would do white. But honestly all depends on your style. What’s your favorite style? I know this picture is a living room but I think it’s great inspiration

I have similar living room as well.
I donot want to paint pure white but may be grey shade or olive shade but since all ceilings are vaulted so I am very confused if the color on ceiling should be same

I hear you. I think you don’t like white in the spaces you have. And I agree. It has bluer undertones and your floor is very yellowy. Do you like the floor stain

I dont have choice.. I don't want to change floor at this time.. so I have to choose paint based on this floor
