Guess the window Height

I would like my living room windows to look like this photo. My other windows will be at an 8ft header height..so I would like to keep the main windows at that. Then about 6 inches trim...guessing the top window is 18-24 inches? My wall will vault also, but I really like how the top trim doesn't go above the start of the vault...looks like it could go a little higher still. So, I'm guessing the ceiling starts at 11-12ft? Thanks!

The raised hearth is about the same height as the coffee table, so probably 18" high. You can use that as a rough data point to measure the wall height.

If you have other photos of the space, look for doors to help you figure out dimensions, most 8 ft doors have 4 hinges, compared to 3 for the average door.

My guess is it is 8' to the top of the door openings and the main windows, with a 2' transom above. What do I win?

Dammit Mark, That was what I was going to guess. 8' doorway and 2' more. Always a day late... LOL

That is what I am guessing too Mark...so about an 11 ft ceiling before the vault?

I think it’s more like 14’, at least.

Regarding the bottom row of windows - We had acquaintances who put in this style and height windows at the suggestion of their architect/designer(?), and it was the main regret they had about their house. They said the framing of that row of windows was in their sight line as they were seated, and it ruined the view.

Sammy-Yes, I think at least 14 inches..I’m guessing 18-24. With the trim and keeping my header height at 8ft, I am debating bumping the living side walls from 10 to 11 ft.

Anne-Thank you. I am still debating if I want to just do solid picture windows almost 7.5ft windows or a smaller 18 inch window at the bottom. We will have a door to the left, similar to this photo to open...which we like to do when it is raining. If I do the smaller windows, I would have those able to be opened, for rain sound.

Actually, I just found this per the designer, Alan Mascord Design Associates Inc:

12ft wall, 15ft to the center of the bottom cord of the truss. The bottom cord has a 12ft radius too.

Thanks Sammy! So that top window is surely 24 inches? Or more? 8ft header, 6inch trim, 24in window, 6 in trim. I was wanting to do 10ft ceilings before the vault, but trying to figure this out before walls go in...as I live this look more than the arched windows I originally wanted at the top!
