Master bath decor

Hi everyone!

So this new year I decided to take care of some home projects. Starting off with master bath. The color scheme i have going on in my master bedroom is white and grey. See pic below. I want to go for the same look in the restroom as well. I will be painting the sink in either white or grey. Eventually the granite will get replaced by white quartz. Also thinking of removing the huge mirror and incorporating round mirrors on each side of the sink. I guess I am going for more of a simple yet elegant modern look. So this is what I have in mind as of now to start off. Any thoughts?

Did you post the wrong photo. Your bedroom does not look like it's white and grey. It looks like the furniture is in the beige tones.

Its the lightening perhaps. The night stands are in a silver leaf color which can show as champagne depending on the lighting. The bed is in a grey and bedding all white. Walls are the same color as the restroom and the curtains are while just like in the restroom.

You could frame the large mirror or remove it and install two square or round mirrors with new lighting.

I'd put shelves or artwork over the toilet and not buy any additional accessories until the vanity, mirror and lighting are taken care of.

    Shower curtain ideas.

Thanks for the ideas. I like the idea of doing grey and white shower curtain. In terms of what I currently have shown in the pics, do you think the floral or women figurine art works best for above the towel hanger?

Maybe adding hardware to the vanity would help some?

Hardware as in accessories or faucets?

IMO the woman figurine and the flower artwork have too much white space in them. See the picture "in" the first shower curtain that I posted, and how it's white and gray, but the gray takes up most of the picture.

Right, im going for a white and grey color scheme. I will eventually replace the granite with quite quartz and paint cabinets either a dark grey or crisp white. Would it still work?

They might work when you change the vanity, countertop and shower curtain. Accessories are the icing on the cake, so I'd get the other stuff done first.

I’d had considered doing towels in that color. What you think if I could incorporate that gray tone for vanity instead?

You have to take your flooring into consideration. I'm not liking the dark vanity with the current tile.

Im thinking white marble with specs of grey as tile. Currently i have white vinyl flooring. Im okay witch changing the bath rug too if needed

If it were me, I’d hold off until you updated counter; bathroom looks fine really. Once counter is changed there will be a whole different feel and your decor choices might be very different.

I’d also be looking at inspiration pictures to decide on an overall design vs focussing on one thing at a time. It will be easier and you’ll end up with a more cohesive look.

For now, you could paint the same color as bedroom (can’t tell if it is), place the two prints above each other over toilet and skip the other item, as you mentioned you wanted simple and elegant and just go with a white rug.

I love the pics! Really good inspiration. I think you are right. So no metal art at all, and just the framed art?

That’s what I would do. Glad the pics helped. Whenever I redo a room, I pour over pictures and they really help. Good luck.

I like the white quartz countertop with darker grey vanity. I'd place two smaller, round or ovoid mirrors above the sinks, and place lighting on left, right, and center, above sink area, positioned about 60" (+/-) above the floor.

That would be really nice! What are your thoughts in terms of wall art in restrooms? Should every empty wall have something?

No, I don't feel that every wall needs something on it, but of course it depends on the expanse of space. Scale is very important when placing items on a wall, so as not to overwhelm the space or add too much visual clutter. Additionally, the wall art, when used, should be complementary to the bathroom, and most of all, tasteful. I see no reason to put up signs that read "bath" or pictures of bathroom fixtures, etc.. A simple landscape, relative to the surroundings, or a small abstract (dependent upon the style of decor) is usually sufficient. People lacking adequate storage may install floating shelves or similar, upon which glass containers of bath salts, tissues, cotton balls, etc. are placed. I personally don't trust glass in a bathroom (for safety reasons), and don't need more items to clean than absolutely necessary. If you have space for a plant atop your vanity, you might add one for color. If you keep in mind the adage, "less is more", your bath becomes a relaxing space, even if it's not a very large room.

Thank you for the information, very helpful. My bathroom is small for being a master bath, so I am concerned with adding too much and making it feel more closed off. However, once I do add the walk-in shower it will give me more of an open feeling and visual look. Which is why I ask about the art. I cannot keep wall art until that happens bc of store return policies.
