Sherry - Yes, the first photo is truly Awesome Artist. I used to grow it many years ago. The second daylily looks very much like Petit's Easter Egg. Isn't it strange how those two got together.? I've had that happen twice before, once when Walking in Beauty had a fan of Coronal Light with it. And a couple of years ago when fans of Color Crazy popped up in a clump of Princess Diary.

Maryl - The two you posted are beautiful! What color is Alan Lane Agin for you? Your photo looks lavender with a mixture of gold and whie edge on my computer monitor. I know it looks pinkish for Hoosier Nan. When I bought it years ago I thought it was supposed to be rose red, with a white sharks tooth edge since that was the description given on Linda Agin's website. Unfortunately that one and Red Friday, the other Again I purchased. died over the winter and I never saw any blooms. Because I badly wanted seedling from it,, the next year I bought seeds on the Lily Auction of Alan Lane Agin x Cosmic Sensation and got a very sunfast seedling from that cross. Now I have several granchildren seedlings of Alan Lane Agin in the seedling bed.

Hooray for the A's and the Alphabet posts!

A Groovy Kind of Love was new last year.

A Little Night Music is always a good rebloomer. It was trying to put up yet another rebloom scape in December, but I cut it off. Unfortunately it hasn't multiplied well, maybe due to grubs.

Abilene Lillian got attacked by Junebug grubs over the last year, lost fans, and did not rebloom last season. I hope I can rehabilitate it. The grubs tend to go after daylilies with lighter petal colors.

Absolute Ripper clumped up, had tall scapes, and bloomed well last year. I wish it would rebloom like Hoosier Nan's does.

Aerial Applique had beatiful clumps for many weeks last season. It's usually a good rebloomer bud did not rebloom last year.

Age of Aquarius put on a nice show too. I've always loved the color of this one.

All American Chief stopped traffic with it's huge clump last year.

All of My Love to You had its best year ever.

All Things to All Men did much better than previous seasons, but i's tendency to be splotchy really bothers me.

I have a lot of A's, so more to come later!

Sherry, I love the Autumn Minaret. When we first received it (as a bonus), I didn't think we would keep it because I'm not impressed with the color of the flower. Now, several years later, I wouldn't get rid of it and we are actually breeding with it (it won't set seeds for us--using the pollen). It makes such an impact in the late garden with those super tall scapes. Getting 2 plants in one clump has happened to us also. We have also been the guilty ones too. We donated Heavenly Yellow Lion to our club auction. A friend bought it and later asked what was that red daylily. A fan of Cardinal Desire ended up the the H. Yellow Lion. They were planted near one another (apparently too close). It's nice to get two when you can identify both but not so nice when you can't.

Maryl, I love Alan Lane Agin. It is a good rebloomer for us, but not so good a grower. It was always sort of rich pink, not red, here. Maybe that was because it was so damaged every winter.

Debra, I love A Little Night Music. Abilene Lillian is my kind of daylily too. I hope it recovers for you.

We continue to be impressed with A Man Called Trout. I was going to say I didn't believe it was available in the U. S. but I see that Bonnie Nichols at Oak Hill Garden has it for sale. It reblooms for us.

A Tale of Two Purples will be leaving the garden this spring, but not because it's a bad variety. It looks to be very good, but we are trying to downsize. This plant was a prize when we went on the Northern Mecca tours in 2019. It's a confusing name since it's not purple. Both of the parents are though.

Aaron's Little Whopper is a great little performer. It's a mini diploid.

Here's our Absolute Ripper. Unlike Debra's, ours has not increased much.

Adopt Me is a miniature double. It has made a huge clump and we have already given someone a piece of it.

I am not really a fan of yellow selfs and I really don't like the shape of After the Goldrush. It is a good grower, though.

Ashwood Smoky Joe has that smoky kind of color. Please forgive the hybridizing tag. I should have taken it out of the picture since a pod didn't form. A hundred years from now, someone will live in this house and wonder what all the plastic tags are from.

My last A is Ashwood Summer Sunshine. It is one of the first from Richard Norris that we purchased. The flowers can be quite large.

Debra: Here's a picture of Alan Lane Agin in combination with a couple of other colors and it looks pretty much the same. It arrived damaged (crown sliced) so I'm overwintering it in the garage trying to keep it as protected as possible while it gains size. Hopefully it won't die out on me.

Nancy, Ashwood Summer Sunshine really caught my eye today, such another scrumptious color and the soft pattern. Autumn Minaret has been here forever, it seems, and I’ve never seen any seed pods on mine, even the bees can’t do it. It’s a late season staple here when not much is blooming.

Debra, A Groovy Kind of Love looks great, you’ve e got a knack for picking the beauties. I hope it does well for you. I’m glad you added the clump shot of All American Chief, what a performer. I remember it being praised a lot here. Too bad it looks similar to others I have here or I’d add it.

I got interrupted before I could complete my thoughts. I really don't remember the color of Alan Lane Agin in particular, other then I thought that it was prettier then I expected. I've heard it's useful in hybridizing (which I don't)............I am drawn to your All American Chief Debra. I think it's an early bloomer? How does it compare to Cherokee Star for you? I also like your picture of All Of My Love To You. That shade of purple can be muddy but it looks clean for you........Nan: That mini double is as cute as a button. I've grown to like that melon color quite a bit. Trouble is it usually bleaches out in our heat. Adopt Me, if it was colorfast, would be a nice addition for me.............Maryl

OMG, Debra! You jogged my memory! I bought Easter Egg three years ago and it dwindled to nothing the first season here. Now I’m wondering if Awesome Artist is planted where Easter Egg was???

Sherry - I bet Awesome Artist IS planted where Easter Egg dwindled away! It looks like at least that one fan bounced back. Both of those are pretty! A Groovy Kind of Love should show a pattern next near. It first bloomed for me when it was hot at the beginning of July, so no pattern then.

Maryl - Thanks for posting the second photo showing Alan Lane Agin. It looks very pink there, and boy do you get a gold edge instead of the white. All American Chief is a dormant UF and grew OK in a pot, but since I got it in the ground two years ago, it's multiplied like crazy. It's early, but not as early as dozens of my other cultivars. It can rebloom, if it gets enough moisture, but I've only had it do that twice. Cherokee Star blooms ML here and is not a UF. All American Chief grows about 30 inches high in my garden, while Cherokee Star for many years was 34-36 inches. I would tend to say All American Chief is a bit more sunfast than Cherokee Star, but Cherokee Star's much later blooms in much hotter temps may be the reason. Both are excellent reds. The grubs have pretty much decimated Cherokee Star the last two years. If you want some of All American Chief, I have plenty to spare.

Hoosier Nan - Absolute Ripper looks lovely in your garden. Mine sat at two fans for a couple of years before multiplying to six last spring. My favorites of yours are the two Ashwoods. I wish I had more room. The Richard Norris plants I have impress me a lot, and I wish I could add more.

Nancy I am always drawn to peach so perhaps Ashwood Summer Sunshine stands out most for me.

Always Afternoon has always performed well but will need to be divided soon since I notice less blooms than previous years. Perhaps if I were willing to water from my well it would have helped on this very hot, dry year.

Anzac is so dependable. Not it's best year ever but it still put on a long show.

I still chuckle when I think how you had posted CS for years and I hadn't noticed it until I saw it in person. It's a scene stealer in person. It looked good in the summer heat we had at the time when I spied it from across the nursery, but we will see how it likes my setup........The one of yours I'm still looking for from a rust free source is Razor's Edge. I hope to join in the fun soon, but life has been crazy busy lately. Lots of beauties posted above. Allegheny Skyline is my absolute favorite of all of them. I have enjoyed seeing it for years, and the more I see it the more I love it. It is now at the very top of my want list.

Brad - I know you always like Allegheny Skyline. Check with me in April. If I have an increase, you can have a piece of it. It's one of my favorite A's!

Sherry - Arctic Lace was a terrific performer the first two years I had it. But then it lost fans and bloomed on short scapes after that. Now I know that part of the yard was a favorite for grubs. I potted it last Spring and then planted it in a new space that was treated with BT for both kinds of grubs that I have. I hope I can rehabilitate it to its former glory. None of my white seedlings really looks like Arctic Lace. The tall one with the 47 buds looks similar to Winter's Angel. You may be thinking about that.

All of My Love to You had to be moved in the spring and I just plopped it in an empty spot. It was by much taller daylilies that overshadowed it and did not do as well as it could. My new deck is finally getting put in, so it will get moved back early spring

American Freedom apparently loves fertilizer. I fertilized this year with alfalfa and another fertilizer. Some plants did not care, others loved it. American Freedom bloomed like it never has and multiplied like mad

Ashwood Still Night does not have a huge bloom, just another dark daylily, but the bloom count and plant habit is so good since I moved it

My experience with Arctic Lace has been somewhat similar to that of Debra, though we are far apart in climate. For a couple of years, it bloomed fairly well (not like Debra's though), but quickly deteriorated into short-scape, sparse-bloom mode. It originally came from Chris in Michigan, for whom it was not a good performer. The climate is changing, of course, and in some years, something may all of a sudden perform. Climate change has brought with it late spring freezes recently, which have negative effects too. Salter's Winter Treasure is much better here, though not a fast increaser; and of course, everyone now has discovered how nice Boundless Beauty can be. Voila Francois and Lacy All Over are also Stamiles that have disappointed (or disappeared).

Aerial Applique has performed quite well, though unevenly. It multiplies well and is welcome in the earlier garden. Allegheny Skyline is nice, but I would recommend some afternoon shade.

Atomic Inferno really caught my eye, Laura, I think I am in a clear red mood. I preferred the deeper reds for a while, and don't have too many true reds. I like your Aaron Brown too.

Aaron Brown here has been an uneven performer. Last year, so-so. Two years ago, very nice, but previous year lousy. It originated in zone 6b/7a.

Also Known As --well budded. Bloomed for a month with perfect, ravishing blooms. Alas, not a fast multiplier. The name was not chosen for sales.

Debra....was happy to see your photo of Awaken the Dawn. I have that one on order from Phil Korth, along with some others. I have so few with the lavish edges and am going to experiment to see if the Korths will open successfully. Most with very ruffled edges stick together here. I know you are in a warmer zone than me but as a new plant, how was the opening on those gorgeous blooms?

Celeste - Awaken the Dawn always opened perfectly here. It does bloom later in the season, and by then we're in the 90s. The drawback for me is the heat. The petal color here is much lighter than in Korth's climate - in fact it bleaches out to cream here on most days. The edge is always favulous though. I will probably only keep it two or three years for hybridizing.

Mantis - I guess you really like Also Known As since you posted two photos. It looks like a nice one. I've been pleased with all the Derrows I have so far. What is the parent of A Perfect Conversation that you like better?
