I don't grow any of them though many look just beautiful in pictures. Someone nearby once had Marianne and it was beautiful and big. Mel's Heritage tempts me but I don't have room for it. I am most interested in Song of the Stars. I bought a plant of the old rose, Alain Blanchard , which is similar, but it totally lacks vigor. I'm wondering whether Song of the Stars is a more vigorous plant. I love the spots and color.

Song of the Stars is beautiful. I can't comment on vigor because mine has been kept in a sub-optimal situation. I don't grow many minis but Unconditional Love is a great one. It looks so cheerful in a pot and blooms abundantly. I love that it has some moss. :)

Alana, I am also grateful for all Paul Barden has contributed. I have Dakota Redwing, Diablo Hawk, Ellen Tofflemire, Marianne (2), Rook, Song of the Stars, and Won Fang Yon so far. Beautiful Anne got eaten by gophers. I tried for Umbra and got a mislabel.

DH, ET and Won Fang Yon are new. I will post photos when Houzz is feeling better.

My favorite Paul Barden rose is Licorice Tea, of which I am on my 2nd one. I also have a Marianne ad Ellen Tofflemire. I used to have Won Fang Yon and Night Moss but dhe to different reasons no longer have them. I hope to be able to get some others if/when RVR puts them on the available list.

Paul Barden Roses were the roses that got me on here. I forgot to write that yesterday. I loved them from the first moment I saw them. Dolly's forever and Dragon's Blood is how I found the antique roses.

I do love Licorice Tea. I made a deal with my wife, of me giving up eating peanut butter for a month and a half in order to get the one I have now. Sadly I wasn't able to take the first one when I moved a couple of years ago. Won Fang Yon I am sure is nice somewhere, just it wasn't my cup of tea in the Willamette Valley where I had it ( I am not trying to disparage it, it just wasn't impressive to me). Night Moss is one that I hope RVR puts back as available.

I've really enjoyed Pam's Choice. For some reason, RVR doesn't list it in their Paul Barden section, but they do say it's in stock.

Great photos of 'Dakota Redwing'! Isn't its color something else?! Few roses I have grown have such depth and clarity of color. Does it ever show its purple tones where you are?

Not yet, here, Paul. The color, as it is, is astounding here. I might have to get another and plant in a different spot to get the purple. I plan on the Diablo Hawk being a bit away from DR on that same retaining wall. It will be interesting to see that color here too. That retaining wall is very visible but does not have the best soil. OTOH, I have not lost any to gophers there. My husband bought a bag of Milorganite because he heard on NPR it might repel gophers. I might sprinkle it down in my Southeast corner where 3/6 gopher attacks have occurred. I have hope but the Gopher Hawk has been my best bet so far.

Possibly my soil could be better fertilized to enhance the Dakota Redwing purple too.
