Paint Remodeling Design Dilemma

Hello!

Our house has old wood-style closets that we'd like to remodel. I'm curious as to the best way to go about covering up the 'wood' look and making them look new/painted clean white? Is this the job of a contractor or painter? Anyone know how simple/expensive of a job this might be?

The wood can always be painted. Make sure it isnt cedar before you paint. If it is cedar, I would leave it. It doesnt bother me to see the wood, but, what does bother me, is that it doesnt appear to have any doors.

Do you want to add doors? Then I would say a carpenter or contractor. They will paint the back wall white if you want it that way.

@erinsean a solution for doors would be ideal. I would love to cover up the wood so it looks like a normal closet rather than just paint the wood slats - any insight there? contractor best?

I would say a contractor because they will want to know what you want for doors or make suggestions, Maybe sliding doors, bi-fold doors or something like that,
