I don't know why builders, men, insist on placing thermostats, alarms, outlets, smack dab in the middle of a wall. they could have gone 2 feet to the left and been fine.

what you could do is 'hide it in plain sight' and decorate around it.

or just do the other side

I don't see that cool gray working against your warm red wood door. pick a warmer wood tone. Also too, the style is a bit modern looking for that door. I'd do something like the last picture

bring in a larger rug

Yes the problem is we need to use it for the alarm so I don’t want to cover it really! Annoying!

I also need ideas for what to put in the centre here it’s an oval shape above and I can’t really find any modern oval shape tables or if I should just put a rug there?

what oval?

I added more to my first comment.

did you see the other pics above for the entryway? just pick one of those to do on one side, and the alarm side, do a picture w/the hideaway for the alarm.

I'd do a long runner, maybe some art and a bench or small console. don't worry about the oval.

I agree. Do a nice long runner. I love the art idea with the hinges on it. Sooo smart. I think a bench would work better for your space. And agree to ignore the oval. Beth has the best advice!!

found a perfect set up for you

the console, accessories and the rug (notice the size). perfect for that wall.

they also have this demilune if you'd rather have something like this

on the other side w/the alarm, do a large piece of art or two, and put the alarm in the middle of the two. (or do a hinged frame. )
