No: fact is kitchens are getting simpler and this is design people saying here is your area and give yourself texture on top of wood tone and other one on top of color. Purely discretionary/ not going to have traction. More beautiful hardware and lighting would far surpass this for desirability w most people.

And I did wallpaper my old armoire (it's a melamine Sauder, I didn't mess up real wood) in a paintable textured paper last spring, so I'm setting trends!

That would become a scratching post at my house too, and I might join the cats in trying to erase those ridges with my own pitiful fingernails. Not a good look, in my opinion.

Apartment Therapy articles are click bait, with no basis in the real world. I.e., they post pics and articles claiming this or that, and try to be provocative so people will click on them, and share them, which is what their advertisers want and are paying for. Every week Apartment Therapy declares something is in or out, or posts lists what to do or not to do, and they contradict themselves a lot. It’s click bait, and I wouldn’t put much credence in it.

The first one looks a lot like the Ikea Ulriksdal doors we have in our laundry room, which I love. They are actually easier to keep clean than the shaker doors in our kitchen.
