One other note. We are adding a reclaimed barn wood mantle to accent the space and tie in with features in the kitchen....

And painting the out dated gold accents

IMO the TV stand will need to go and then the TV hung lower with a reall simple black cabinet that is quite low below the TV and IMO paint the door the same dark color to hide it as much as possible. You do realize this is a can of worms that will require many changes to make both the dark wall and the fireplace work in that space . The first will be the stair railing and spindles that will ruin the whole effect IMO. Could we see the whole room please.

The whole house is a can of worms. We are a year in right now. The rest of the space is still half done. But yes console table is going, tv will float on the wall with nothing beneath if possible. All doors in the main living area will be painted same gray. Spindles are way down on the list but ideally will update.
Kitchen is a mess but adding pic for context. Still to come are finishing the opening in Barnwood, tiling the backsplash and finishing the island with black walnut.

Oh and a pantry next to the fridge with vintage doors matching these, the old carpet in that nook will be replaced with more of the tile

We gutted the whole living area opening it up, adding the window and reconfiguring the kitchen and have just completed adding a new master bedroom within a dormer on the second floor and a full bathroom for the kids in the Upstairs hall after widening that landing
now we’re attacking these smaller projects So we can get the living space finished.
