Depends on how big each variety is expected to get.

I saw an article about layering your climber with two roses in front a.d they only gave it 2ft seperation. I hope that helps

Thank you both. Quicksilver is described on HMF as reacing a height of 215 cms and 120cms width. Ebb Tide is listed as getting to be 60-120 tall and wide. However I feel sceptical about the estimation of ET's size, and in fact have posted a query on the site to see if anyone has a 4 foot tall (120 cm) ET; the only reply I have recieved so far is from someone in Australia who says that theirs hasn't gotten over 60 cms in 7 years.Rose Barni states that Qsilver can get "big" and gives spacing as 150 to 200 cms, but presumably intend that as spacing between 2 of the same variety; they say ET gets to be 60-80 cms tall.

How much room would you like for your body to be able to move between the two plants without donating blood to them? How far out from the wall or other support do you intend to permit the climber to fill out? I'd suggest if the climber is going to be three feet thick from the wall; the bush is going to be six feet thick (half would be three feet from the trunk to the drip line) and you want 2 to 3 feet between them to walk through to groom and maintain the plants and garden, you should plant them 8' apart so each would be able to grow to the thickness desired and still leave you two to three feet to move through without being impaled on the prickles.
