sizing a chandelier - need help

I have an unusual (and boring) staircase. It goes straight up to a small landing and from there the ceiling is almost 9.5 feet. But there are three steps coming from the hallway. How big of a chandelier can fit without someone hitting their head coming from the hallway?

You wont want anything with much more than a 2 foot drop so you can do a fixture that is 12-18 inches and that will still give you about 12 inches of chain or cord. style wise we have nothing to really go off....
