On RVR’s website they have it as available. There isn’t a whole lot of information about it though? @undefined, what can you tell me about it? Or anyone else?

Did you mean @Paul Barden ? He's the hybridizer of Dominic Sunset.

Hmmm...for some reason, the @ doesn't seem to be working...

It's HOUZZ. What do you realistically expect?

What do you want to know besides what HMF says? 2 to 4 foot shrub, rounded, compact. Blooms are about 3", peachy-orange, light scent. Its thorny like Bracteata descendants often are. No idea what its hardiness is - I thought I was the only one who had a plant of it.

    Curiouser and curiouser.

Oh, by the way, DS is a lovely rose, Paul.

@Paul Barden I am not super sure what else. It is kind of odd that they would be selling it if you though that you were the only one who had it. And I second that it is a lovely rose. If I didn’t already have my list of 15 roses that I am giving up peanut butter until thanksgiving for, I would try to talk my wife into it

Presuming what they are calling Dominic Sunset, IS Dominic Sunset...

So very strange. I hope you get it figured out. I looked it up, and it is very beautiful Paul.

It IS entirely possible I send RVR a plant of it years ago and forgot doing so. If they say they have it, then they must actually have it.

I was wondering if you may have forgotten. I know my memory is horrible! Glad you figured it out though!

    What a beauty!

Isn't it Sheila! And Sheila I saw a thread you did, maybe last summer that I missed, and your Tea beds are gorgeous!! You did so great on them! They are my inspiration... to buy more Teas! Hehe! Seriously beautiful ❤

Just ordered two for being shipped in April to Bend Oregon, together with Dakota Redwing and Diablo Hawk. My Paul's roses collection is growing! So happy and excited 😁!

@Paul Barden based on the photos and HMF description, Dominic Sunset is a beautiful rose, which I would love to plant near the front of the house. The same goes for Oshun. I got both from RVR and just received them today... I just can't wait to see them bloom!

Dominic Sunset is available from Freedom Gardens for a custom propagation (cost $30).

Interesting. I wonder where they got it, and if it came from RVR, I wonder if they have the correct rose.

Hey @User they have quite a few of yours--and evidently, they say Marianne is the best. :)

    Here's the page.

If it is all above board, I'd be happy to order these from them. Two of the three I ordered from RVR last year were completely wrong (if you remember that thread last summer) which was VERY frustrating. Thankfully Jeri Jennings turned out to be correct and is growing beautifully.

Since you are here, may I ask about Mel's Heritage? Simple question--best in full sun? Or is this shade tolerant? Morning sun only situation here in Portland, Oregon.

@User I am not the best one to answer that for you, since I've only ever grown it is very open, sunny locations.

I really hope Peter's got the true 'Dominic Sunset' because it would be great to have him distributing it. It should have been available a decade ago. https://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=21.118523

@User no problem--Mel's Heritage is going in full sun now anyway, so problem solved. I'm also emailing Peter about Dominic Sunset (and a few others) for propagation. I'll let you know what he says!
