I have a single story ranch style house. I want to add new shutters, and *eventually* put up new fiber cement siding. I like the look of Joined Board & Batten Shutters. Can i put those style of shutters on this house? I was thinking black like the attached photo (because I don't know what other color to go with my crazy brick). And maybe some nice window boxes too, to give it a cottage like feel.

But my main question is does the picture window, with two casement windows on the side, on the front porch needs shutters? I'm not sure if its necessary. Thoughts? Also are shutters usually only put on the sides of the house that can be seen from the road?
