Floral, have you ever seen this species over there? I sent seeds to a friend in Somerset who was eager to grow it. I was surprised that someone anywhere would desire to grow it, but since then I've decided it is garden worthy if you happen to have a large area to garden in. The plants can look lush if well watered, but can be ratty looking in drought. The flower buds never really open, until they seed.

If that's indeed what it is, it's a nasty invasive pasture weed here in Oz. Yet I've eaten it many times in India, where it's commonly used as a substitute for spinach in palak paneer.

No, I’ve never seen it here. I only know it from multiple postings on these forums. Afaik it doesn't occur here.
