stylizing half bath

So I did my first diy remodel and want ideas about what’s wrong. I’m thinking maybe black lighting or shelves or something? Ideas?!

How about a different mirror, round? Black frame. Something to warm the space.... Colorful painting.... the light seems too powerful but I’m a 40 watt bulb freak so ..... love the blue.

It looks good so far. It'll look even better once you finish painting and put the switch plate back. Can you point the light fixture downward to see if you like it better that way?

What a great job! I'm impressed at your diy skills! I would suggest painting the door frame white and the door. Then it depends on the feel you want.

Spa? White shower curtain, white towels, art over the toilet with white in it.

Modern farmhouse? Shower curtain with color, maybe floral. Pull accessory colors out of shower curtain to coordinate. (Red, coral, pink, orange, mustard, yellow, green) Something farmhouse over the toilet like a print, black metal, or galvanized metal.

If you need storage over the toilet, I like 2 ft floating shelves. They are not as heavy as a cabinet.

You don't need a lot in there, it is beautiful!

A simple mock-up of a black-framed mirror gives you an idea of how that could look; it ties in with the color of the vanity hardware. However, the mirror also reflects the stained woodwork which doesn’t look quite right with the white vanity. Is this a powder room? Do you need a shower curtain?

Sorry, just re-read your title! It’s a half-bath, so no shower curtain. Unless you need storage, I’d opt for a piece of art over the toilet.

My thought is if there is ever a place to go wild and dramatic it's a powder room. Yours is nice but lacks drama, color and texture. Here are two examples although these are a bit under-dramatic for my personal tastes.

Uplighting is flattering, doesn’t create undereye shadows, 😉. I agree a round mirror with black trim, some art, and coordinated towels. Leave door frame as is if NOT painting door, otherwise, paint all the same. No shelves over the toilet.

Oops, I got so carried away I also forgot this is a powder room. :)
More drama would not hurt, but it is all in what you want. Do you want to paint the other walls blue or leave as is? If you leave it as is, art on the other walls can repeat the blue around the room (beach, outdoors, floral, etc).
A round mirror will look great if it fits. A black mirror makes me think of Tiffany blue (French?)

What was your inspiration for this room? your home? This might help us.

    We like a beach/modern farmhouse/cottage look.
I like the idea of a framed pic.
Can’t decide black or white framed.
Have no desire to paint the side walls as I think too much color would be overwhelming.

I got to thinking this weekend and found some photos:
White beadboard or other paneling on the bottom definitely adds the cottage feel, in semigloss white. You can also easily change the upper wall color minus nooks and crannies.
You can also cheat the look with chair rail, moulding, and semigloss white paint.

If anything like this wall art inspires you, art would look good over the toilet or on the side wall. You also won't go wrong with a towel bar or towel rings.

That wallpaper would look good above paneling/wainscoting.

All you need is artwork in a black or white frame over the toilet. Paint the rest of the walls the same blue color.
