What pillows work together?

last modified: 4 years ago

I need help with picking pillow
combinations for my king size bed
and barrel chair, which are both in my bedroom.

I have all these pillows, but don’t know how to combine.... or if they CAN be combined. Ikat might not work with geometric and I am not sure what sizes are appropriate for the furniture they will be placed on.

I have material for the camouflage looking pillow and the off white bubble swatch.
I will buy a neutral color duvet if needed...

Anyone have suggestions? I swear I have gone back and forth to Home Goods and Home
Sense 100 times!!!!

H-E-L-P!!!!

It can be very difficult to distinguish base colors in grays, tans, beiges, etc. Lighting can also influence color, and most lighting gives off an orange light. As such, my analysis could be off.

I copied your first two photos to my photo manipulation program and sampled the colors of the chair and curtains. In both photos these have an orange base, though they don't at all appear orange. All of the beige pillows also have an orange base. The patterned pillow also has enough orange-base color to work. The "blue" pillow shows as cyan only in its shadowed areas; the other areas show having a green base.

I think they can all play very nicely together color wise and even pattern wise. I think that camo pattern is especially nice and versatile. I don't know about the placement so I am hoping others have suggestions. I am curious if it will be suggested to get a duplicate of one of them just for balance. I do think they all work together, but if I HAD to eliminate one I think for me, it would be the geometric one.

And again, not a designer here.

Not designer here either, but it always helps to see all of the room... whether we see your art... but I'm curious how many curtain panels/ windows there are....

what's the majority color - is it curtain grey, or another?

Pale 'teal' blue which would go with your pillows. Amber floor would be the warm influence among the cool tones...

I think only the camouflage-y one doesn’t quite work.

    maybe another blue?

Let's say you'd like a couple bubble-textured pillows on the chair. You could add a casual flange type edging in a color that ties in with bed pillows....

Or euro shams in bubble against bed, then camo, then a lumbar accenting.

The bubble fabric in a large enough size to fill the headboard area with two or three pillows. Then pick one of the patterned ones and use two of those. Add two of the lumbars in either of the colors you have. For the chair, one matching patterned and the same lumbar.

The Camo pillow has too much yellow right in the center. There is some taupe in the pillow, but not enough.

You need the blue - without it you are drowning in a sea of neutral.

I would put the top right and the bottom left in the chair and the little vase will be part of the view.
