I normally force hyacinths every year. For some reason I didn’t this year. But I don’t put them in the fridge. They just go out in the shed covered over to keep them dark. Perhaps in z3 the fridge is warmer than a shed? These are last year’s showing the blooming sequence.

Hi floral: yes, fridge is warmer than shed in winter. Love your picture! I was so surprised that it only took 3 weeks to bloom once it’s in the vase, I’ll try to find more vases next year so that I can plant in succession just like you did. Have you ever tried with other bulbs, and if so, how did it go?

I don't know why I don't force hyacinths. I LOVE them, although surprising haven't had them in my garden in years. I think one or two around the house in late winter would be lovely. Love the pink Fondant.

Funny, aside from a few paperwhites and an amaryllis, I haven't done any forcing in years, although several times I have done a workshop about forcing bulbs for my local library... The years I did a program I did make a pot of tulips for myself. Mine too lived in the garage until time to come in the house.
